UGC Mandates Disclosure of Fees, Hostel, Scholarships, and Accreditation by Colleges to Ensure Transparency

Transparency Directive of the University Grants Commission (UGC): The University Grants Commission (UGC) has produced a list of information that universities must provide on their websites. To ensure transparency, universities must make information and papers such as annual reports, accreditation and ranking, institutional growth plans, and administrative biographies with images and overviews accessible on their websites.

The decision to direct universities and higher education institutions to submit basic information was made to reduce difficulties and uncertainties for stakeholders. According to UGC chairman Jagadish Kumar, numerous university websites lacked basic information or were inoperable, creating “inconvenience to stakeholders.”

Scholarships and Research and Development Cells Information Will Be Updated:

The UGC has also demanded that information about R&D cells, patents, publications, overseas collaborations, and industry partnerships be updated on the website. For the benefit of students, the website must include up-to-date information on fellowships, scholarships, academic banks of credits, Digi Locker NAD Portal, and the National Scholarship Portal. The UGC intends to make the checklist available for public comment and ideas soon.
