University Grand Commission (UGC) NET Exam is conducted by NTA. It determines the eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professorship in different university all over India. How to fill UGC NET Application Form
- Visit the official website and click on Apply online to fill the registration page.
- Enter your personal details, email ID and mobile number
- After registration, a system generated application number will be sent on the email Id and mobile number.
- Login again and select your subject, position and preferred exam center.
- Now, upload your photograph and signature.
- Pay the application fee through debit card/credit card/net banking or e-challan.
- The final step is to download 4 copies of filled in application form and e-receipt of fee payment for further reference.
Eligibility Criteria
Age Criteria:
- For Junior Research Fellowship, the upper age limit is 30 years as on 1st June 2019
- No age limit for the Assistant Professor.
- The upper age limit relaxation for reservation categories(OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD and women) is 5 years.
Qualification Requirement:
- You should have the Master’s degree or equivalent from a university recognized by UGC can apply. Ph.D. candidates can also apply.
- You have at least 55% marks in aggregate in the master’s degree. For the reserved categories, there is 50% of marks for eligibility.
- Appearing students of the master’s degree can also apply.
- There is a 5% relaxation for Ph.D. degree holders in aggregate marks. Such candidates should have the Master’s degree examination which should be completed by 19th September 1991.
Exemption (Eligibility for Assistant professor):
- The minimum eligibility criteria for the Assistant Professor is NET/SET/SLET.
- If you have passed the UGC/CSIR JRF examination prior to 1989 are exempted to appear in the exam.
- Those qualified the SET (held prior to 1st June 2002) are exempted from appearing in NET then you can apply for the post anywhere in India.
- Those cleared the SET (1st June 2002 onwards) are eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor only in the Universities/colleges situated in the state from where they have cleared their SET.
UGC NET Exam Pattern
UGC NET Exam is a computer-based test having multiple choice questions
- The exam has two papers – Paper 1 and Paper 2
- Paper 1 is the same for all candidates. It tests teaching and reasoning ability, research aptitude, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate.
- Paper 2 is based on the subject chosen by the candidate. It tests a candidate’s in-depth knowledge and expertise in the respective subject.
- The combined exam duration for Paper 1 and Paper 2 is 180 minutes. Candidates are free to move and attempt any paper or question in these 3 hours.
- Each question carries 2 marks and there is no negative marking in any of the papers.

UGC NET Admit Card (Both Session)
UGC NET Admit Card for December 2019 session will be issued on November 9, 2019.and also the June 2020 session date is also released. You can download UGC NET admit card only from the official website- ntanet.nic.in by logging in with their registration number and date of birth. UGC NET Admit Card will specify your name, roll number, category, photograph, signature, allotted exam date, time and center.
How to Download UGC Admit Card.
- Visit the official website – ntanet.ac.in
- Click on the link “Click Here for Login for Admit Card”.
- Login with “Application Number” & “Password”.
- The admit card will be displayed on the screen.
- Download it and take a printout for further reference.
