Knowing the JEE Main 2019 Pattern is very important and also the first step towards its preparation. So, if one is planning to appear for JEE Main 2019, then he/she need to know the JEE Main Pattern 2019 of the exam.

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main is conducted for admission in UG Engineering and Architecture in various colleges of India. JEE Main 2019 is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the score is accepted by NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs. Other than these, the private institutes also accept JEE Main score. Every year, 11 to 12 lakh candidates apply in order to seek admission in approximately 35000 seats.

JEE Main will consist of two papers. The Paper 1 will be for B.Tech / B.E admission, whereas, for Paper 2 those candidates will apply who wish to pursue B.Arch / B.Plan course.

JEE Main 2019 Exam Pattern in Detail

As per the last year statistics, the number of students opting for a computer-based exam in 2018 soared to 2.25 lakh as compared to 1.8 lakh in 2017. On the other hand, the figure in case of pen and paper exam has decreased from 10.2 lakh to 9.25 lakh. Considering these figures, the CBSE increased the number of exam centres to 258. Adding to it, since such huge number of candidates appear for the examination, it is clear that the competition in the exam will also be quite high. Hence, to prepare well, firstly we need to know the exam pattern of JEE Main 2019.

JEE Main 2019 Pattern for Paper 1:

All the important details that you need to know about JEE Main Pattern 2019 for paper 1 are as follows:-

Duration – The exam will be of 3 hours.

Mode of the examination – Paper 1 will be conducted in online and offline mode.

Language – The question paper will be provided in Hindi and English language. However, candidates from Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli will receive question paper in Gujarati also.

Question Type- The questions will be of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), with a single correct response.

Marking- 04 marks will be awarded for every correct answer.

Negative Marking- 01 mark will be deducted for marking the incorrect answer.

Subjects – Paper 1 consists of subjects, namely, Physics Chemistry and Mathematics.

Level of the question- The questions will be up to the standard of Class 11th and 12th.

Distribution of Question and Marks- For Paper 1 there are 90 questions for a total of 360 marks.

JEE Main 2019 Pattern for Paper 2:

Duration- The exam will be of 3 hours.

Mode of examination– The exam for Paper 2 will be conducted in offline mode.

Language of the Question– The question paper will be provided in Hindi and English language. Whereas, for the candidate belonging to Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli will also get their question paper in the Gujarati language.

Question Type- Paper 2 will be divided into three parts. Part 1 (Mathematics) and Part 2 (Aptitude Test) and will consist of MCQ questions. White Part 3 will be a drawing test.

Marking Scheme- For every correct answer, 04 marks shall be given.

Negative Marking- There shall be a negative marking of 01 marks for every incorrect answer.

For Paper 2 there shall be a total of 82 number of questions for a total mark of 390. Candidates can check the table below to understand the distribution of questions and marks for better understanding.
